Hillsong church getting big fast

I just noticed they now have their own channel on direct tv, I watched a little bit of it yesterday, it looks like they are trying to reach the younger crowd by having a church service that resembles a rock concert. but it looked like wherever they go they end up filling entire arenas with people.

I believe this originally started in Australia, but now they have locations in the US, London, and a few other countries, and they are only getting bigger.

From the little bit I saw of their services, it appears like they have no problems praising God, and it all seems to be in good taste, but its definitely geared towards teens and early 20s crowd, so Im not sure what their real agenda is.

Anyone more familiar with them?
 
I live in Charlotte, NC. The Bible Belt South. I have noticed a trend where many of the Evangelical Christians are choosing the non denominational churches. I believe that there are a number of factors involved. One being the “modern” service. That does attract many people especially the young. Another consideration is the “Prosperity Gospel”. Many people find comfort in the belief that God wants to bless them and to give them a double portion in life. Lastly, in the non denominational churches it is easier to find a church that accommodates their beliefs.

There has been an issue where people have left the Baptist church to join a non denominational church. I have a great respect for the Baptist Church I especially appreciate their orthodoxy in their beliefs not to mention their zeal for Jesus Christ. It is my hope that the Baptist Church will remain strong in it’s convictions.
