Some following this group will likely be interested in seeing His all holiness Bartholomew on 60 minutes. The video is posted at the CBS website: cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6001717n
View also the three short Extras on the menu to the right: “Pilgrimage”, “Cappadocia” and “The Footsteps of Christ” from the menu on the right. “The Footsteps of Christ”= “Maria Khoury lives in Tiabe, the last Christian town remaining in the Holy Land.”

The patriarchate website includes links to a CBS Photo Essay and to Bob Simon’s Notebook 2 1/2 mins: “Bob Simon shares about his trip to Turkey and interview with one of Christianity’s top leaders, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.”

Bob Simon’s Notebook-- well done!

Thanks for the video link. I wanted to watch this but Ionly have an antenna on my TV, and living in Canada, CBS is not a station I can get without cable.

His gentleness, humanity and holiness shone through.

It is a great shame that Turkey which was once a major site of Christianity, it’s spirituality and theology in particular, is now a Muslim nation that wishes for Christianity to die out.

I pray for His All Holiness and our Christian brethren that they may pick up their cross and follow our Lord in his path of suffering.

The website has been updated (I think) and a wonderful reflection by 60 Minutes Associate Producer Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson on her experience meeting His All Holiness and working on the project has been posted.
I very much enjoyed her post and can understand her weeping when meeting his His All Holiness. He exuded such power even on television as I watched the interview that weekend. His power comes from his humility at being a servant of the LORD. He is fighting for the Church. I also saw him with His Holiness Pope Benedict on TV during the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul last year and was moved by that as well. It is a shame more Christians here in the West do not appreciate what the Orthodox have done over the centuries and how their theology is so closely intertwined with Catholicism. One of the things that jumps out at me when perusing the Catechism of the Catholic Church is how many references–and frescoes and paintings referred to therein–are to the Eastern Fathers and Orthodox artwork. As Pope John Paul II said, the Eastern Orthodox is the other “lung” of the Church along with the Catholic Church.
