Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today is the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary - which is celebrated on the Saturday following the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, how very appropriate!

The tiny heart of the Word Made Flesh began to beat beneath the Immaculate Heart of His Mother! How the Lord must delight in seeing His Church honor the Mother He gave us from the Cross to be our Mother and Model.

Today’s Mass readings, especially the Gospel of Luke: 41-51 can help us to obey Jesus’ words on Calvary: “Behold your Mother”. By God’s Grace let us listen carefully to Mary’s words and Jesus’ reply as the Gospel concludes:

“Son, why have you done this to us?
Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.”
And he said to them,
“Why were you looking for me?
Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
But they did not understand what he said to them.
He went down with them and came to Nazareth,
and was obedient to them;
and his mother kept all these things in her heart.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful; kindle in us the Fire of Your Love.
