I don’t understand the name at all. Is it supposed to be from the book of Wisdom?
I think they are doing good works sheltering the homeless when the building is being unused, but I think they should use a Catholic name

The link is to a blog post, not a newspaper article, so it’s unclear whether the writer has presented all the information.
From the blog post, though, it sounds as if the sisters are mainly planning to provide housing for the poor. And the use of the name Sofia certainly has a Judeo-Christian sound to it.

It’s a nice idea but it’s going to take a whole lot of money to do this and I wonder where the money will come from.
I regret that so many historic buildings are coming down, but things don’t last forever.
As for the secular vs non secular…that doesn’t bother me.
