Historical evidence for catholic Jesus

Is there any historical document available from the first century written by someone who new Jesus and knew he started Catholicism?

Jesus wasn’t Catholic. He was Jewish. He founded the Catholic Church.
 
Josephus was a Jewish historian and also a roman writer Tacitus are the closest I can think of.
 
I understand the history of Jesus but where is the proof he founded the catholic church.

What part are you looking for? He handed his leadership to Peter establishing a Papal line and the power to make rules.

OK, you got me there. The historical fact is that Christ and His Apostles founded the United Methodist Church, but power mad Romans broke away from the True Church and founded the Church of Rome circa 350 AD.

Did Jesus live by himself?
Did Jesus write us a book?
Did Jesus hang around to sit on an earthly throne til today, or did he “go”?

How do you know anything about Jesus?

Any evidence outside the bible? You can’t really use scripture as historical evidence when it comes to a protestant. At least the One I know.

Well, Jesus handing over the leadership of the Church is in the Protestant Bible. They just say it’s figurative, much like the Eucharist.

Faith is our proof; any other “proof” is disputable and hence irrelevant.

That’s completely silly. If that was the case we wouldn’t have theology and apologetics.

Silly? A little harsh…maybe you just meant to say you disagree?..variances of opinion summarily dismissed does little for civil discourse.

Theology is often argued with, and apologetics only present one side…while both are important, without the component of faith all the theology and all the apologetics can easily be disputed or dismissed.

It’s silly because facts are needed.

You stated that any other proof is irrelevant due to the fact that it can be disputed.

The Church dosn’t feel that way, which is why it is a silly stance to take.
