Quran, Chapter 4
156: That they rejected Faith; that they uttered against Mary a grave false charge;
157: That they said in boast, “We killed Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no certain knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:-
158: Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise
I’d like to see some historical evidence for this claim, the claim that Jesus was not killed nor crucified. For example, historical documents from Jesus’ time, relics of Jesus, etc.

What I do not want to see is arguments on the historicity of the Qu’ran or the truthfulness of Mohammed, nor do I wish to see arguments on the Swoon Hypothesis, because the Qu’ran is clear that Jesus was not killed nor crucified and it is this matter that should be discussed.

Whose word do you trust more? God’s, or that of a historian? God suffices as a witness.

What you want is to pretend that the Qur’an is not the Word of God so you can feel more confident in your own beliefs. But everything, absolutely everything, rests on the Qur’an.

You know what, forget it. If this is how I’m going to be treated, than just forget it.

You can’t prove what it was that revealed the Quran to Muhammad.

Everything in the Quran rests on Muhammad and the one who spoke to him, and you pretend to feel confident in their accuracy and truthfullness much less identity. If you cannot offer any historical proof of the OP how about some info on the prophet Shu’aib (عليه السلام), or that Abraham built the Ka’bah at Makkah( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #127).

There should be something you can offer other than the Quran like you require proof for the Gospels.

Sis is right . To Muslims , it’s enough that God says so in holy Quran . We don’t need support from any historian.

If u need proof other than Quran , then let’s pray that second coming of Jesus (pbuh) may take place during your lifetime. So , that u can watch how he offers prayers with Muslims at mosque & gives his testimony that he is a slave & messenger of God .

:console:

Its YHWH’s Word vs Muhammed’s word

Which one should we trust more, the sinless live Jesus (YHWH’s Word) Who came from heavens and Who has the ability to control everything on heavens and earth, Who logically should have the ability to protect His words as mentioned in “Matthew 24:35”, or should we trust a dead man who was born from a religious-less father and mother!, who committed many sins!.

No one can make historical claims without evidence for said claims. Jesus is a historical figure, so if he didn’t die on the cross, there would be historical evidence for this. That’s what I’m asking for: historical evidence. The Qu’ran dosen’t count as historical evidence because it is not historically significant (all historians agree that a document must be 100 years or earlier to an event in order to be reliable (significant) about said event). Hence, if Jesus really didn’t die on the cross, than there would be historical evidence of this. Jesus would be important enough in the Roman Empire to have been written about, since he started Christianity (which proved to be a major threat to the Empire), so it’s not like he would be just any other ordinary criminal in the Empire who no one would care about. Where is the historical evidence for Jesus neither dying nor being crucified? What evidence is there to back up the claim in the Qu’ran? If the Qu’ran is true, there should be evidence.

This isn’t a battle between Islam and Christianity, either. This is just a simple request for evidence.

Let me rephrase my OP:

Other than the Qu’ran, is there historical evidence that Jesus neither died nor was crucified?

I think that’s a better way of asking my question 🙂

Requesting evidence from Muslims on their faith will usually only incite a battle. Take the answers they give you as they are. They do answer your question, however indirectly.

To believe in Bible , I guess , u have enough historical evidences . Pl. let me know about some . What historical proof do u have that Adam (pbuh) ate the forbidden fruit ? What is the proof Moses (pbuh) divided sea ?

Mary (pbuh) was a virgin , except your holy book , what proof do u have ???

To believe that Mother Mary (pbuh) was a virgin , Muslims are not looking for any historical evidences . To believe that Jesus (pbuh) cured blind , gave life to death , we are not going anywhere for proof . So , to believe that Jesus (pbuh) did not die , this time , why we have to ask historians ?? 🤷

I think I’ll just take this advice and heed it. I guess my efforts in seeking the truth were fruitless.
