Hello there, KevJohn here!
I am looking for suggestions for reading material for the History of Ideas, and the History of Philosophy. I plan on writing a dissertation on Catholic Sexual Morality in the context of modernity, so I would like something which was as much a history of social and cultural ideas as a history of those philosophical (though of course the former somewhat emerge from the latter!).

Its very hard to know whom to trust as being objective you see, whereas to find something that was both Catholic and comprehensive enough is difficult!

You might want to consider two works by an Australian bio-ethicist Hiram Caton. These are The Origin of Subjectivity (a study of Descartes) and his The Politics of Progress: The Origins and Development of the Commercial Republic, 1600-1835 . Also consider Leo Strauss Natural Right and History
 
On Wiki and in my university they have nine volumes. Are there more?

No, I think it is nine, though sometimes it is listed as 11. Don’t know why. :confused:
