I have a semi-understanding of the Divine Office within Christianity, but was wondering if in some ways it can be traced back into Judaism?

Was there anything within the Jews of Our Lord’s time that it came from?

TIA

Absolutely. Jews prayed the psalms morning and evening, and many of those are prayed at the same time in our Divine Office.

And the number of hours are from the verse: “Seven times a day I will praise you, O Lord” is from Psalm 119.

Is that the super long Psalm?
Yes. In the LOTH it is divided up across all 4 weeks, one section at mid-day prayer almost every day with a couple of exceptions. Plus a couple of sections at Vespers (1st Vespers on the the Saturday night that starts week 2 of the psalter, and Lauds on ever second Saturday).

In the monastic tradition, the entire psalm was said over all of the minor hours of Sunday and Monday (Prime, Terce, Sext, None before Vatican II, Terce, Sext, None after). In a modern post-Vatican II Monastic psalter, it is divided over Terce all week.
