I’d like recommendations on the “best” history of the Church in america, specifically in the United States.

We used two books in the doctoral course I took on the Church in the USA. The American Catholic Experience by Jay Dolan and American Catholics :A History of the ROman Catholic COmmunity in the United States by James Hennesey. I thought they were pretty concise.
