Hitler Catholic?

I was told by my Western History teacher that Hilter was Protestant Lutheran (ie Germany).

But does it really matter what he was or wasn’t??? Judas turned Chirst in, and for a moment he was Christian.

I heard some people say that Hitler claimed to be a devout Catholic and did all the things he did in the name of God. Anybody know anything about that? This dude had a couple pictures of him with a pope. I know that it doesn’t hold any water even if Hitler was Catholic, but I had just never heard that before.

And in my history class I learned that Billy Graham and President Nixon were close buddies, there exist pictures, you know. In fact, Graham was a personal advisor to the President during the Vietnam war according to history.

“OK, lets spray the jungle with some agent orange (sp?), women and children, it don’t matter”…( I am not saying this is what happend because I wasn’t involved in their private meetings but do you see the assertion people can make from this connection)

You can correct your teacher methinks. He is incorrect. He probably bases his assumption due to the fact germany was predominantly Protestant Lutheran. And Hitlers high admiration for Luther (not in connection directly with Christianity but his diatribes against the Jews) However the same applies to them as to Hitler. Did they actually remain Protestant Christians? (some obviously did) Basically it was a pagan regime once you look at their beliefs (heavily influenced by the east), practices, and ultimate goals.

:confused: The etymology of “east” is from Greek eōs. Eostre a Germanic goddess of dawn, might have been a personification of both dawn and the cardinal point—her actual existence is highly disputed, however.
 
What I want to know is, if Hitler really did hold Christianity in such a bad light, why did he pursue the Spear of Destiny (said to be the spear that pierced the side of Christ) so fervently? Did he have the mindset of “if it does such amazing things, what does it matter if I believe in its source or not”?

But really, what does it matter if Hitler was Catholic or not? Can you really judge an organization based on one of its members? I mean, I think Nixon was a terrible president, but I don’t see him as representative of the Republican party. Vlad the Impaler was Catholic, but that doesn’t mean Catholicism supports sticking pointed stakes into a person’s rectum.
 
Hitler was born a Catholic, and I believe he even aspired to be a priest as a younger child. However, he was influenced by atheistic Marxist philosophies and quickly left the Church. In fact, the Church became one of his greatest enemies.
That picture of Hitler with the pope (Paul XII signing) has hounded be wherever I go to dicsuss apologetics against protestants, particularly born again. And still a lot of people doesn’t know what that concordat is for.
