A Texas fertility clinic now promoting its plan to “design” babies for customers is moving society another step down the road toward full-blown eugenics in the United States, where there would be certain categories of lives that simply would be valueless, according to a spokesman for an organization of physicians.

Do you think they could make a child that actually listens to it’s parents? That might not be such a bad idea.

But aren’t you are denying them of free will and skepticism?
No children should not be allowed to have free will, and should definately not be skeptical of their parents. They should just do as I tell them. Same with my wife! 👍

Are you serious? I was joking! 😃

I would normally be outraged by this as I am an egalitarian, but it seems the link in the OP used this as an opportunity to convey the idea that Darwinian evolution is evil.

But this isn’t evolution. This is unnatural selection, you know?

From the article:
One of the biggest supporters of eugenics was Adolf Hitler, according to a program called “Darwin’s Deadly Legacy”, a Coral Ridge Ministries production featuring more than a dozen experts in various fields talking about the connections between Darwin’s theories, eugenics, Hitler and abortion.
Its premise is that Darwin’s thinking changed the world’s perception of people, so instead of considering them made in God’s image, they became just another organism. Bloggers Internet-wide as well as the Anti-Defamation League launched their criticism in pointed phrases when the airing was announced.

D. James Kennedy, the Coral Ridge founder, suggested, “No Darwin, no Hitler.”
Producer Jerry Newcomb said the show included WND columnist Ann Coulter, who also wrote the bestselling “Godless: The Church of Liberalism.”
I believe you are correct, but I dislike it when the article uses it to malign the theory of evolution.

Well i disliked it when Darwin used evolution to malign the theory of Catholicism.

How is it a “theory”? It is not a theory in the scientific sense.

BTW, I am curious, how did Darwin malign Catholicism per se?

I couldn’t help but notice you have the same religion as a cartoon character. Perhaps that makes sense to you in the pokemon world. It would certainly go a long way to explaining why you hold science above religion.

BTW, Darwin stole his theory from someone else.

A study in the March 2001 issue of the journal Human Reproduction stated that two “genetically engineered” babies are already more than a year old, and that "nearly 30 such children have been born world wide. This germ-line engineering has ushered in the era of “designer babies”. This is the realization of the ultimate ambition of the father of eugenics, Francis Galton (1822-1911), a cousin of Charles Darwin. Galton’s ambition was totally consistent with his cousin’s notion of 'survival of the fittest’

Yes, a more even-handed source than World Net Daily would be desirable. Here is one:
A Texas company has started producing batches of ready-made embryos that single women and infertile couples can order after reviewing detailed information about the race, education, appearance, personality and other characteristics of the egg and sperm donors.
The embryo brokerage, which calls itself “the world’s first human-embryo bank,” raises alarm among some fertility experts and bioethicists, who say the service marks another disturbing step toward commercialization of human reproduction and “designer babies.”
"People have long warned we were moving toward a ‘Brave New World,’ " said Robert George of Princeton University, who serves on the President’s Council on Bioethics. “This is just more evidence that we haven’t been able to restrain this move toward treating human life like a commodity. This buying and selling of eggs and sperm, and now embryos, based on IQ points and Ph.D.s and other traits really moves us in the direction of eugenics.”
