I asked if there were any well-known Catholics who were strong anti-fascists; dying in the Holocaust does not make you an anti-fascist.

You should know that I am an anti-fascist as I oppose the current fascist regime and forces in Ukraine.
I did not know that you were anti-fascist. I apologize for thinking that you could be fascist. To answer your question, the leaders of Catholic nations that were attacked by fascists were anti-fascist like Charles de Gaulle. He was the only one of the four main Allied leaders to be Catholic.

Indeed. As a matter of fact, I believe you have called yourself an “unapologetic Stalinist”.

There are have been a few movies already which touch on Pope Pius XII

Pius XII - Under the Roman Sky staring James Cromwell as Pope Pius XII was very well done and shows him during the Papacy.

God’s Mighty Servant is about a German Nun who works closely with the future Pope when he was the Nuncio to Germany, then the Vatican Secretary of State, and finally when he was Pope. It details the role the Nun had as being his right arm in the effort to hide Jews in Convents and Monasteries throughout Rome (if not throughout Italy).

You can purchase a monthly subscription to FORMED.org for $9.99 per month and watch them, plus tons of additional Catholic content (and can cancel at anytime).
There was also a tv movie in the 70’s/80s called The Scarlet and the Black.

TBN is showing it tomorrow @ 10pm est.

I don’t remember calling myself that.

I said this earlier:
Your source [Grover Furr] is an evident apologist for the Soviet Union? You want to read a real source, read *Bloodlands *
instead.

Yeah, I am obviously an “apologist” for the Soviet Union. I have to be an apologist since I believe the world would be better off if it continued to exist, and that its actions during the Cold War were benign and fairly defensive of its sphere of influence. It may be considered “imperialist” but it is no more imperialist than the US. I am not ashamed of whatever admiration for the Soviet Union and Stalin that I have, and such sentiments is justified by the sentiments of those who actually lived in the Soviet Union and East Germany and an understanding of history.

Why do people who are defenders of US foreign policy aren’t automatically discredited too?

Of course, my initial position was that the Soviet Union’s presence was beneficial for the world since it provided some competition with capitalism. Whatever oppression and atrocities that the Soviet Union committed should be regarded as “sunk costs” that are irretrievable, and one should just acknowledge those atrocities (that did happen) for the sake of objectivity, but also acknowledge its benignant influence in geopolitics. My point is to highlight that whatever alleged atrocities that CCCP committed, it does not detracted from its progressive influence. Similarly, one could discredit the accomplishments of Roosevelt and Reagan by pointing out the mistreatment of indigenous population and slavery.

[Similarly, the US supported Suharto who killed millions, Tell me what good has come from his influence. If you deny or are ignorant of the events in Indonesia in 1965. you would be given a free pass; if you doubt the sacrosanct tens of millions of victims of Stalin and do not regard the famine of a 1932-33 as a “Holodomor”, you get compared to David Irving.

Madeline Albright said the death of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis due to US-imposed sanctions was “worth it”.]

I just believe the mainstream Western interpretation of Stalin is based on an edifice of lies and fabrication.

And yes, I am an anti-fascist. I support an anti-fascist Ukraine.

Then I must have misread what I thought I read, or misunderstood what I read, and so I apologize.

Since everybody seems to be defending the Pope here, I will put my two cents in on Margaret Sanger. She was a liberal minded feminist who did not believe the Roman Catholic Church had any say on how a couple should run their sexual life. I give her credit on trying to give women a voice on they being used as baby factories for some of their oversexed husbands but contraception wasn’t the correct answer to their problem. Abstinence with the Church’s support may have been a better approach. You have to see Mike Wallace’s interview with Margaret Sanger in 1957. She reminds me of alot of politicians these days who try to scoot around a question, about a comment they made, by questioning the source. Margaret Sanger, in my eyes, is a very bad role model for anyone.

You should read this book “Hitler, the War and the Pope” by Ronald Rychlak

amazon.com/Hitler-War-Pope-Ronald-Rychlak/dp/1592765653

This book is well researched and clearly articulated - with source documents identified. It is scholarly but readable …

I highly recommend it …

Hitler, the War and the Pope illustrates that John Cornwell’s book was based on lies …

Even John Cornwell has backed off some of his claims in Hitler’s Pope - … Cornwell seems to have issues with the Church of his youth … like many who leave the Church or rile against her teachings - he is angry and striking out.

Margaret Sanger’s history is actively keep undisclosed by Planned Parenthood - even as they worship at the same altar … For example - they will not want the peole to hear these quotes lifenews.com/2013/03/11/10-eye-opening-quotes-from-planned-parenthood-founder-margaret-sanger/
