Hitler was born a Catholic but changed and converted into Protestanism when he got older. When the atrocities started, Hitler was Protestant. Now that by no means is because he was Protestant he carried out these horrendous acts. It’s just what he believed in at the time.
1937 February 10 Nazi officials close all Catholic schools in Bavaria.

1937 March 14 A papal encyclical, Mit Brennender Sorge (With Burning Sorrow) is published, dealing with the condition of the Catholic Church in Germany and condemning Nazi racism.

1937 March 21 Mit brennender Sorge, is read from the pulpits of all Catholic Churches in Germany on Palm Sunday. It has been smuggled into Germany, secretly printed and distributed by messenger throughout the nation. “With deep anxiety and with ever-growing dismay” Pius XI says he has watched the tribulations of the Catholic Church in Germany. The Concordat of 1933 is now being openly violated, and the conscience of the faithful oppressed as never before. True belief in God, the Pope declares, is irreconcilable with the deification of earthly values such as race, people or the state. Important as these are in the natural order, they can never be the ultimate norm of all things. Belief in a national God or a national religion, similarly is a grave error. The God of Christianity cannot be imprisoned “within the frontiers of a single people, within the pedigree of one single race.” (Lewy)

1937 March 22 The Gestapo confiscates all copies of the Pope’s encyclical it can find. Twelve print shops are soon closed and dispossessed without compensation for having printed the encyclical letter. Strong protests are lodged with the bishops and the Vatican. (Lewy)

1937 March 26 The Pope publishes an encyclical entitled Divini Redemptoris, condemning atheistic Communism.

1937 Spring A decision is made that all German colored children are to be illegally sterilized. After the prerequisite expert reports are provided by Dr. Abel, Dr. Schade, and Professor Fischer, the sterilizations are carried out. (Science)

1937 April 12 The German Foreign Ministry sends a note of protest to Papal Secretary of State Pacelli describing the Pope’s encyclical as a call to battle against the leadership of the German state and a grave violation of the Concordat (See March 21). (Lewy)

1937 April 16 Swiss officials announce that they are refusing to grant permanent resident permits to German Jewish refugees to avoid flooding the labor market

1938 December 16 A remarkable editorial in The New York Daily News says that the Bill of Rights means only "that our government shall not officially discriminate against any religion. It does not mean that Americans are forbidden to dislike other Americans or religions or any other group. Plenty of people just now are exercising their right to dislike the Jews.

Nuremberg Trial Proceedings Vol. 1 Indictment : Count Three
The Nazi conspirators destroyed 1,670 Greek Orthodox churches, 237 Roman Catholic churches, 67 chapels, 532 synagogues, etc. They broke up, desecrated, and senselessly destroyed also the most valuable monuments of the Christian Church, such as Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra, Novy Jerusalem in the Istrin region, and the most ancient monasteries and churches. On the territory of the Soviet Union the Nazi conspirators destroyed or severely damaged 1,710 cities and more than 70,000 villages and hamlets, more than 6,000,000 buildings and made homeless about 25,000,000 persons.

Apparently Valke who said the pope did ‘nothing’ for the Jews then is totally absurd.

The Protestant Reich Church was formed by Adolf Hitler in 1933, by merging 28 regional churches into one church. The founding of the church was the result of work by the German Christians, who had gained a large majority at the 1933 church elections. It was based on Nazi ideas of creating a “positive Christianity”, namely purifying Christianity of any Jewish elements including even the Old Testament, an idea which had existed in a small minority of Christian groups since the time of Marcion of Sinope, but the Protestant Reich Church did so for racial more than theological reasons. Ludwig Müller was elected “Reich Bishop”. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protestant_Reich_Church

The German Christian (Deutsche Christen) group was formed in 1932 and led by Ludwig Müller. The group were supportive of the Nazi ideas about race. They issued public statements that those Christians in Germany who had Jewish ancestors “remain Christians in a New Testament sense, but are not German Christians.” Also they supported the call from the Nazi party platform for a “positive Christianity” that does not stress human sinfulness. Some went so far as to call for removal of the “Jewish” Old Testament from the Bible. The group wanted to form a Reich Church which would bring together all Protestants in Germany. Their symbol was a traditional Christian cross with a swastika in the middle and the group’s German initials “D” and “C”. The Nazis found the group useful during their initial consolidation of power, it was claimed and remembered as a fact that the Jews had killed Christ, thus appealing to and actively encouraging anti-Semitic sentiment among Christians in Germany

The Search for Elisabeth Nietzsche
From Publishers Weekly In 1886 Elisabeth Nietzsche, the bigoted, imperious sister of the famous philosopher, founded a “racially pure” colony in Paraguay together with her husband, anti-Semitic agitator Bernhard Forster, and a band of fair-skinned fellow Germans.

In 1991 Macintyre, once a foreign-affairs reporter for Britain’s Sunday Correspondent , tracked down the survivors of Nueva Germania, as the colony was called; he found a strange, tight-lipped people, still interbreeding to the point of genetic deterioration. Digging into recently opened German archives, he tells how Elisabeth, who returned to Germany in 1893, grafted her anti-Semitic, nationalist ideas onto her brother Friedrich’s philosophy, building a mythic cult around him. Elisabeth later became a mentor to Hitler; her stately funeral in 1935 was attended by a tearful Fuhrer. Laced with mordant irony, Macintyre’s brilliant piece of investigative journalism adds weight to the view, shared by many scholars, that the Nazis’ use of Nietzsche’s ideas to justify their evil deeds and doctrines was a perversion of his thought

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher of the late 19th century who challenged the foundations of traditional morality and Christianity In The Antichrist, Curse on Christianity (Der Antichrist. Fluch auf das Christentum, September 1888), Nietzsche expresses his disgust over the way noble values in Roman Society were “corrupted” by the rise of Christianity, and he discusses specific aspects and personages in Christian culture – the Gospels, Paul, the martyrs, priests, the crusades – with a view towards showing that Christianity is a religion for weak and unhealthy people, whose general historical effect has been to undermine the healthy qualities of the more noble cultures. plato.stanford.edu/entries/nietzsche/

Philosophies Influencing the Third Reich
Spiritual Aryanism-the same principles of the genetic ‘Master Race’ just as Social Darwinism saw society paralleling Biological Darwinism.

Theozoology -“theozoology” is: "Practical race-metaphysics are concerned with research into the history of the races. One of Hitler’s assimilations of 'theozoology was the belief that world domination must be racially based.

The Elder Futhark is a name given to a system of Runes and their predictive power
That Hitler and the Reich were immersed in Norse Mythology and archetype is no secret:Hitler and Himmler in particular saw the archetypes of Wotan, the Warrior God and the warrior’s exalted role in life and greater reward in the afterlife as a very real premise. shoaheducation.com/philosophies.html

I find this whole discussion nonsense.
It`s your actions that make you Catholic or Protestant. Everything Hitler or other Nazis did and stood for is so against Christian Faith that it’s a waste of time to argue what he or others believed in.
If I am a faithful Catholic, I can’t be a racist, murderer etc…period.
If I truly believe in God and Jesus Christ, how can I do the things that the Nazis did?

Apparently Valke who said the pope did ‘nothing’ for the Jews then is totally absurd.
I was quoting another author, the point being that whenever a priest or nun or someone affilitated with the Church did a heroic act for Jews, the Jews incorrectly assumed that they were acting on the Pope’s orders when the reality was they were acting on their own initiative. ANd because of this, after the war, many gave praise to the Pope, believing he was responsible for the heroic acts that individuals in the Church took upon themselves to do.

Well, the writer must be prejudiced against Pius XII, maybe against the popes and the Catholic Church in general. Funny they had to wait years after Pius XII’s death to come out and speak up?
Rather fishy!

Can you prove that he was Roman Catholic? I have evidence here that Adolf Hitler was an ex-Lutheran who converted to Islam as he was fascinated by Caliph Umar, the second Caliph of Islam, the de facto father of Arab racism. The Islamic armies conquered Christian North Africa and Christian Syria and then subjugated the Berbers, the Libyans, the Copts, the Syrians, and the Chaldeans under Arab slavery.
Your evidence appears to be missing, but I admit I’d love to see it – I don’t think I’ve heard anyone make that claim!

I hate to link wiki, but their article on Hitler’s beliefs is cited out the wazoo.

I don’t think this is actual evidence, murtad! Even though I’m sure he had been a lapsed Catholic for long when he became the Führer!

Adolf Hitler was raised Catholic, and continued to profess Catholicism publicly, and to a great extent privately, for most of his life – at the very least well into his career as chancellor. There is little reason to believe he was not so, other than an entirely understandable desire to have as little in common with the man as possible.

But in any case, he would not be the first bad Catholic, the first ‘reluctant’ or ‘self-loathing’ Catholic, the first totalitarian Catholic, or even the first priest-murdering Catholic to walk the earth. The Church has never held that being Catholic makes anyone any less a sinner: it just gives them a means for forgiveness.

This topic comes up every now and then here and at whyislam. Here are some links that I have learned in those discussions. I suggest a search of Hitler (in the title line) of this very forum. I’m sure you would come up with more than a couple hits.

Here is an interesting writeup (it is rather lengthly) but it shows, with proof, that he was a Catholic. I would say that he was insane - to say the least, but how could so many follow such a guy - were they all insane?

nobeliefs.com/Hitler1.htm

My problem with so many fascist regimes is how could so many (mostly men) and women carry out such atrocities against their own population, let alone any others they hated, or were told to hate. This is beyond brainwashing since many were older - it is chosing to be brainwashed, chosing to hate.

I am currently reading a book, ‘Fascism and Paganism’, which includes Nazism and Communism - and also islam. I have hardly started it but it goes into how there is quite a bit of a paganist thought, and also Orientalism, to these three fascisms.

Unfortunately, Hitler was indeed a Catholic and our own saving grace is that mostly Christians went in and took care of the problem (WWII). Hitler and the muslims had a tie and fed off each other. The current radicalization started in the 1920s and was helped by the nazis. In fact, when we went in and swatted out the nazis - the effect was like swooshing dust - some of the dust/radicals went to Africa and the Middle east to grow and fester - and hence the muslim brotherhood took hold. But, that is another story for another thread.

Islam and Nazi ties:tellthechildrenthetruth.com/amin_en.html

Apparently he didn’t follow a religion however if he did he twisted it to fit “his needs” and many do.

Why does it matter?

Like I said I just started reading the book. Yes, islam is a radical religion, but to be quite truthful - for a while they were not in their killing frenzy as they are now. A guy called Al Husseini started the current radicalization. The numbers of Jews, Chrstians and others were much more numerous at the turn of the 20th century - now they are dwindling in numbers and the spread of islam in Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe - along with Canada, the USA and S. America is also rising.

The beginnings of this current radicalization has born some fruits of which include Arafat, Al Qaeda, wahabbism, the muslim brotherhood (which is affiliated with Hamas, the MSA, etc), CAIR, Iran and its radicals (which includes Hezbollah), and even Saddam Hussein - who was actually not a religious zealot but who did like to kill and torture.

The ties between the nazis and the muslims wasn’t as well known nor did we realize what we did when we wiped it out of Europe to let it spread elsewhere. I would say that even 9/11 has still not made the majority of people aware of islam and what it is all about.

I would suggest printing off and/or saving, the articles and reading it at your leisure.

I have said on different blogs and threads that islam’s violence has ebbed and flowed. We are in a flow period.

And in the Middle East right now - we are giving them the money to spread wahabbism, and export the jihadists which is their largest export besides oil. We gave so many mujahadeen the bloodlust to kill - when we left them after the end of the Cold War they turned on us.

To answer to all the ties between the three fascisms - I will have to wait until I finish the book, or at least get further along into it.

You need to post proof of the muslims who were on our side at that time. I posted proof that the Arab muslims were indeed helping Hitler. And I don’t see how you could have read either of those posts in such a short time.

As for fascism - read the definition.
1often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control <early instances of army fascism and brutality — J. W. Aldridge>

Both of these definitions apply to islam also.

In Rabbi David Dalin’s book “The Myth of Hitler’s Pope”, something is mentioned about an active participation of the Great Mufti of Jerusalem in the making of the Holocaust, I didn’t go to the extent of reading the details, though. That being said, it doesn’t mean that all Muslims gave a hand to Hitler. But if some influent people among them did, a number of people quite automatically would follow them, I’d think…

I’m sure one can find pictures of American flags in U.S. Catholic churches; American bishops and priests saluting the American flag; American bishops and priests (and even the Pope) shaking Bush’s hand or being in his presence; U.S.politicians and military men in front of Catholic Churches; U.S. politicans and militarymen attending Catholic services or being married in Catholic churches, etc. I dare say that is probably true of any country. Why would it be different in Germany?
Excellent point, claude, that bears repeating, as these photos are frequebtly brought up as some sort of “proof.”

And I tend to believe you, Jharek! Rather a dangerous thing to generalize.
