I am not anti-Catholic. I am not anti-Scientologist either. The catholic church appeased Hitler. Bishops were required by the pope to swear an oath of loyalty to the Reich.

The signing of the concordat demoralized German Catholics, who had stood with their bishops in opposing National Socialism from the early 1920’s until March 28, 1933. On that date the bishops, relying on Hitler’s solemn pledge to make “the two churches [Catholic and Protestant] the cornerstone of our work of national renewal,” rescinded their bans against membership in the Nazi Party. Pius XI and Pacelli may have operated in the best interests of the church as an institution, but they implicitly diminished the church as an advocate of human rights and justice. The metaphor of the church as a medieval castle or a Gothic cathedral so dominated Catholic thought that it lessened the role of the church as a proponent of universal human values.
Cardinal Pacelli said as much in August 1933 to Ivone Kirkpatrick, the British minister to the Vatican: “The spiritual welfare of 20 million Catholic souls in Germany was at stake, and that was the first and, indeed, only consideration” in agreeing to the concordat. The Holy See “had to choose between an agreement on [Nazi] lines and the virtual elimination of the Catholic Church in the Reich.”

In* Pius XII and the Holocaust (2002), José M. Sánchez has p(name removed by moderator)ointed a pope’s “first obligation” according to the ecclesiology of perfect society: “As head of an institutional church, he is charged with protecting that church; according to Catholic theology, the church is the necessary means of providing the sacraments which give the grace needed for salvation.* Without the priests to administer the sacraments and the freedom to receive them, Catholics can be hindered in their search for salvation” (p. 36).**

You were misled becuase you cut n pasted from a anti-catholic web site and didnt check to see if it was correct. you do the same below-all cut n pasted verbatim from concordatwatch.eu/showkb.php?org_id=858&kb_header_id=752&kb_id=1212-another anit-catholic website.

Btw -the concordat did not forbid Catholics to particpate in politics-it forbade catholic clergy to particiapte in politics-the sam ruleis in effect today
Yep, Hitler knew that as an institution with a rigid and self-important hierarchy, he could easily use them for his own purposes.

Sure, I guess they had their reasons.

No, I am on your side…I am saying that you are right, maybe he is a chameleon.🙂

I never said Jews would be screaming on their deathbeds sir…I had a dream once and I was relaying the dream. That Christ comes back with all the angels from heaven, blowing their trumpets and the non-believers were on their knees pulling their hair out saying no! No!
Do you feel that unbelievers are going straight to heaven? A simple yes or no will suffice.

Biography: Houston Stewart Chamberlain

During his lifetime, Chamberlain’s works became widely popular throughout Europe, and especially in Germany. He was invited to stay at the court of Kaiser Wilhelm II. It was said that his works would later have a marked effect upon German nationalist movements, such as National Socialism. Adolf Hitler was an avid student of his “Foundations”, and praised him as “The Prophet of the Third Reich”.

Chamberlain grouped all European peoples—Celts, Germans, Slavs, Greeks, and Latins—into the “Aryan race”, a race built on the ancient Proto-Indo-European culture. At the helm of the Aryan race were the Nordic or Teutonic peoples.

Chamberlain used an old biblical notion of the ethnic make up of Galilee to argue that, while Jesus may have been Jewish by religion, he was not Jewish by race. Otherwise, he suggested, God must be a Jew. During the inter-war period certain pro-Nazi theologians developed these ideas as part of the manufacture of an Aryan Jesus.

Yes, they most certainly did. There was much that was done by the Catholic Church in Europe during the period of 1933 to 1945. Especially where speaking out against Nazism, and how the Catholic Church and the Pope worked quietly behind the scenes to save Jews from the Holocaust. If you actually have the time and desire to learn the truth about that period in time…the Nazi’s versus the Catholic Church…here are some links to articles that you might find illuminating, one caveat though; If you seek the truth…truly seek it, and read the entire articles thoroughly:

Regarding Pope Pius XII;

uktv.co.uk/history/news/aid/589121

ewtn.com/library/issues/pius12gs.htm

You will note that there were several references to Cardinal Pacelli and his “anti-Nazi” speeches.

And this link provides a basis from which most of the lies spring from…a 1963 play by an “anti-Catholic”… al-bushra.org/vatican/indefense.htm So much for basing facts on “truth”.

If Hitler “was a Catholic”…explain why these things happened:

freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1732324/posts

catholicculture.org/library/view.cfm?recnum=472
Read the whole page, but especially the “Polish Martyrology”.

The following link will give you some insight to “Hitler’s Religion”:

What you really might find interesting is “Martin Luther’s” alleged influence where the Nazi’s and their “religious beliefs” are concerned.

nobeliefs.com/luther.htm

theblackboxspeaks.org/legacy-martin-luther-bb.html

Again, Hitler was no more a Catholic than any other ardent atheist. He did claim to be doing the “Lord’s” work…but he and the other Nazi’s used Luther’s rants for justification.

The truth in the matter is a matter of public record…not the bleatings of anti-Catholics who haven’t a clue and or who have foul and evil agendas. Learn the truth, and absorb the truth…it will set you free!!

OK (name removed by moderator), i guess we have to agree to disagree with our definitions of people.

I can’t in any way call Richard Dawkins an Anglican, but fair enough if your definitions are different than mine.

If you define Richard Dawkins as an Anglican, then yes, i can see why you would define Adolf Hitler as a Catholic.

What did Hitler believe in?
Faithful Roman Catholic
Dissadent Roman Catholic
Agnoistic
Atheist
Occultist
Jew?
Depends which do you want to attack?

You wanna attack Neo-Paganism then Hitler was a Pagan.
You wanna attack Catholicism Hitler was a Catholic.
Wanna attack Atheism Hitler was an Atheist.

The fact it Hitler followed, denounced then reembraced each of the above in turn. Frankly I do not care which of the above Hitler was because whatever his faith he wasn’t a very good [fill in the blank].
