How can we become more holy? What is Holiness and how do we strive to do it? I know the Angels are more holy than us I know people who deal with them directly and frequently. But this is my point, we need to use this time to progress. I say daily the “Divine Mercy Chaplet” I would like to find out more about it. I think there are 13 promises given to Faustina by our Lord. But it’s harder to find things out about it than the rosary. 🤷 We are promised all the graces needed to enter in I believe.

Be open to God’s transforming grace.

Too many people they can work anxiously to become holy and more often than not, it’s an ego driven agenda.

Also, the meaning of holiness is often misunderstood as people have been disillusioned through movies and stories of the saints.

They see holiness as being something other than a natural human being God had in mind when he created them.

Holiness comes from the grace God gives us.

We can merely be open to Him and through prayer, experience the divine love of which he transforms us in.

Transforming grace. I see. That’s one I have never heard of. THX 🙂

Just focus on finding Him, loving Him, a little more each day. Talk to Him from your heart. Love your neighbor, forgive those who have hurt you…this is the Way.

A good one. I would like to know more about Anthony of the Desert fathers. Teresa of Avila’s book I find a little confusing.

Bill
St Teresa of Avila’s The Way of Perfection was a little difficult, but the Interior Castle was better.

St John of the Cross works are excellent, but often it takes experience in the interior life to understand.

I think a lot also has to do with mindfulness, or vigilance, not just reacting to people and events but stepping back to remember to be patient, kind and generous.

Hi billcu1,

Here is a link to the Marians’ website for more information regarding the Divine Mercy Chaplet:

As for holiness, I think that it depends on what you’d personally like it to be for you.

You can always pray for God to help you with an increase in holiness in your life.

For example, you can ask for His gifts of the Holy Spirit, and ask for a specific gift that you think that you might need.

If you’re struggling with something that is a fault or a habit for example, you can pray for help with overcoming that, too.

Additionally, you can also add in some other things that would also help you, like maybe add in going to an extra Mass during the week, or add in some additional prayers or do something else like that, that would help you to spend more time with God.
