Really shouldn’t be too much of a surprise there. It seems that when the celebrity crowd takes up an issue, they usually end up on the wrong side of it. This does not apply to Hollywood celebs across the board, but certainly to a very large segment of the crowd.

Quite a few of our “celebs” are graduates of the “it’s all about me” school, and the positions many take are simply manifestations of that philosophy.
 
i wonder if they would endorse PP if their mother had aborted them for her own selfish, sad, vain convenience???

100% correct Mark, but ya know what? Hit them with that very valid point, and they absolutely don’t know how to counter it. Not that murder should be the subject of any debate, but the very basic, very true premise you advance, they have yet to figure out.

They wouldn’t care either way, they’d be dead.

Its better to get them to consider how they can deny other children in the womb the same wonders life afforded them, everythign from your first day at school, the first time you fell off your bike, the first big birthday party [that you can remember], your first telling off, your first school dance, your first crush, your first job, and all the in betweens of life, both joyous and not so much.

These celebrities are not denying other children in the womb the same wonders life afforded them, unless they are the ones who have elected to have an abortion or they are the practitioners performing the abortions. Celebrities, like all other individuals, are free to choose their political, moral and spiritual philosophies and to act upon their individual consciences as they see fit. That is what each CAF poster is doing. Absolutely no one on this earth expects any of you to endorse them or to agree with them. So why even bring it up?

Remember, too, that not everyone has had such a sweet, white-picket-fence childhood. That assumption is dangerously naive.

I think it is dangerously naive to assume that the celebrities are not doing great harm by endorsing and glamourizing this taking of a human life.

Please supply a link which will lead me to a video of any celebrity endorsing and glamorizing abortion. I do not want a link showing a celebrity attending a benefit for Planned Parenthood; this would only corroborate the likelihood that s/he supports every service offered by Planned Parenthood and not abortion specifically.

Endorsing planned parenthood is endorsing abortions, not sure how anyone could believe differently.

I did not ask for a link showing stats about Planned Parenthood abortions. I asked for a link clearly showing any celebrity endorsing and glamorizing abortion, as you originally alluded to in your post from Jan. 5th.

Endorsing Planned Parenthood is endorsing abortion, birth control and emergency contraception.

When one endorses Planned Parenthood, one is also supporting education and services in the areas of women’s health, STDs, sexual orientation and gender, sex and sexuality, relationships, pregnancy, body image, general health care, and even men’s health.

Knowledge is power. Anyone who is armed with the facts of human sexuality and reproduction is more likely to make informed decisions with regard to conception. That in turn has the power to lower the number of unplanned/unwanted pregnancies. That, of course, has the power to lower the number of abortions performed in this country.

Isn’t that what you want?

Abortion needs no justification from me, nor do the women who choose abortion when dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. By the same token, these women do not need any justification from anyone else.

I despise the carnage, the heartache, the spiritual bankruptcy that dresses abortion. I also believe each woman should consider carefully every single facet of the decision to terminate a pregnancy and then, if she chooses to move forward with it, do so without intrusion, disruption or recrimination from any source.

That is what I want.

I also acknowledge the carnage and the heartache. Are these not considerable? Are they somehow less than spiritual bankruptcy?

Would you care to explain your emoticon a bit further? That’s the kind of face my kid would have made when surprised with a triple decker ice cream cone.

What does it mean? What is it about intrusion, disruption and recrimination that you endorse?

I agree this is the BETTER way to counter their arguments than the First “Rebuttal.”

In the case of the First “Rebuttal,” they would simply say “I had no say in the matter; Mother Did and I was not even a fully Self-Aware Human Being then”-------so that’s not going to “Change Minds.” :rolleyes:
That would have been what I would said if you had asked ME back in MY previous Pro-Choice Days. 😦

One has to have a fully developed Convincing Argumantative Strategy to counter “True Believers” and “Activists.”👍
