Holy Crowning

Hi everyone,

In the Eastern and Oriental Churches, a couple are married by the priest. Traditionally, they are crowned in the ceremony to show that the two have become the king and queen of their little kingdom: the home. Here is an example of one:

I saw a picture of a wedding in an Orthodox church in Indonesia where the crowns were decorated with peacock feathers.
 
When my neice was married in the Armenian Church, besides the crowns, there was a point in the ceremony where they stood face-to-face, foreheads touching, looking into each other’s eyes while the priest prayed. It seemed to go on for a long time. Is this a custom in other Eastern Churches? I thought the entire ceremony was quite beautiful.

That is an interesting custom. I personally have not seen this custom in the Chaldean ceremony.
