Now here’s a wrench- under canon law, it is the pastor who may dispense the obligation in these types of situations, but when I approached our pastor for a dispensation for my daughter who would be on a school trip, he very clearly stated that no such thing was any longer required! “If you have a good reason for missing, you just miss.” is how I believe he put it. I KNOW that’s not true. I had to take his answer as her dispensation.
