Holy Day of Obligation?

Is Jan 1 a holy day of obligation this year?

Yes. At the parish where I work, it will be really nice because they are starting off the New Year’s Eve party with a Mass which will be late enough to suffice for the Holy Obligation, and then we will go to the Church hall and bring in the New Year with a Church supper and party.

As any dog and/or cat owner can tell you, many pets panic at these loud noises. I need to stay home and reassure the cats that they are safe.

Oh i know my poor cats don’t emerge from their safe zones until after all of the New Years Noise. Thankfully we have a 10am mass instead of a 9am
