Got a question for you all. As some of you know I’m a new Catholic. I joined the Church this past Easter so I’m still learning. I know that this Wednesday is a Holy Day of Obligation. I know its Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Thats all I know. Can someone explain about this Holy Day. I couldn’t really find any details online or in my RCIA book. Thanks for the help!!

will i be wrong in assuming that wear are not obligated to fast on that day?

Can we go to mass for the Assumption on tuesday night as vigil or is it wednesday night?

but does that mean we can go on wednesday night also, or is it different.

Tomorrow celebrates how Our Lady ascended, body and soul, to Heaven(Rev.12:1-5).The Ascension is the fourth Glorious Mystery of the Rosary, and its a very important event for Our Lady, because she went to be reunited with Jesus and live with him in paradise.

Just a point here - Our Lady was ASSUMED into heaven. She didn’t go under her own power, but God raised her up to heaven. The only person who has ever ASCENDED (gone up under His own power) was Jesus.

So the second Glorious mystery is Jesus’ Ascension, whereas the fourth is the Assumption of Mary.

Sorry…I must have been confused about the Mysteries.😊 I wondered what the difference was between Ascention and Assumption.

Just an aside . . . I believe amazing things can and do happen on and around Marian feast days 👍 .

Two years ago, when we were preparing to sell our home, I asked that it officially be listed on the market on Aug 15th! That was a Monday and we got a contract on Saturday. —KCT

It’s quite all right … I like to play teacher every now and again 🤓

I enjoy it far too much too 😃
