Since the sixth week of easter is coming up in a couple of weeks and the masses at my church and most of the surrounding churches are in the morning. I have an exam that day at 9pm but thats when my parish is running their mass. So would this excuse me from mass without sin?

You need to go to another parish for the Mass if possible.

If there are no parishes offering Mass in the afternoon that are suitably located near your house, where you don’t have to travel excessively to attend, then ask your pastor for a dispensation. Alternatively, you can attend the Anticipatory Mass on Saturday evening which counts as a Sunday Mass. I’m sure at least one of the parishes in your surrounding area has one of those.

ALL presuming you will be in a jurisdiction which celebrates the Ascension of the Lord (I presume you are speaking of?) on Thursday. (Otherwise, you are under no obligation to assist at Mass)

Misread the time in the OP’s post, thinking it was 9am.
Also misunderstood that the exam was on a Sunday.

Silly me.

Are you referring to having an exam on Ascension Thursday or on Sunday (the Sixth Sunday of Easter), at 9pm

What meant was I have an exam on assertion thursday at 9am the 9pm was a mistake that I did not catch.

a) Determine if you are in a province that transfers Ascension to Sunday. If so, no problem. If you are in the U.S., the ecclesiastical provinces of Boston, Hartford, CT, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Omaha (which is the entire the state of Nebraska) retain Ascension on Thursday.

b) If you are in a province that retains Ascension on Thursday, you can attend Mass the evening before or any time on the day of, at any parish. Also, your parish may have more than the one normal daily Mass on Ascension, so ask your pastor about it.

c) If you can reasonably attend Mass on the evening before or the day of at another parish, you have an obligation to do so.

d) Talking to your pastor is the best solution, as we here cannot give specifics of your situation and are not your pastor.

What you should do is fine a church that has evening Mass, so you don,t miss Mass on a Holy Day,for it is a sin ,too miss Mas on A holy Day.

That may or may not be possible depending on the OP’s location.
for it is a sin ,too miss Mas on A holy Day.
Such a blanket statement is not helpful. We are legitimately excused from the obligation for many reasons. Additionally, pastors can grant dispensations from the obligation.

So, it is not **always **a sin to miss Mass on a holy day. It may be a sin in any given circumstance.
