I’m really scrupulous and have dealt with it for years.
I’m scheduled to work this coming Thursday, which is a Holy Obligation to go to Mass. I’m definitely going to go to the 7PM Mass, but I’m unsure if it’s acceptable to work my scheduled shift at work from 8-4 on Thursday. It’s not a difficult job and I’m certainly not under stress. It wouldn’t interfere with my outlook of the day or anything, I’m just not sure if it’s morally acceptable.
I read through the Catachism but I’m still not sure what it means when it comes to Holy Days and being scheduled to work. If it’s acceptable to work during Sundays wouldn’t it be acceptable to work during Holy Days? Honestly, I think the Catachism can be kind of confusing sometimes.
Is it a sin to work a scheduled shift during a Holy Day of Obligation even if I’m still going to Mass that same day?
I’m so confused…
