If a day is a Holy Day of Obligation and my parish only has mass times when I am scheduled for work should I call around for a parish with other times?

Also, if the parish lists an unusual mass time for the day before (like New Years Eve) is it safe to assume that fulfills the obligation the same as the day itself?

Any mass from midnight to midnight on the holy day, or the evening before, fulfills your obligation. If you’re in the US, it’s a fair bet that any mass after 4pm counts as “evening,” unless your bishop has determined otherwise.

In fact, just got off the phone with a parish near my job and another nearer to my home on the times of their Vigil Masses for the Feast of the Blessed Virgin, since I know I am unable to attend on Thursday.

Yes, if it is around 5:00 or later (I know some parishes have Vigils as early as 4:00 or 4:30, but have never seen that around here); no, if it is at noon.

On Holy Days of Obligation in our parish we use our normal Sunday Mass schedule. We have 10 Masses on Sundays and so have 10 on any Holy Days of Obligation. Its hard for anyone here to argue they cannot find a time to go.
