Can someone research and tell me if January 1 2018 is a holy day of obligation in Mexico? I can’t find this information. I know that it depends on the diocese you are in. Also, does it depend on the the one you are currently in geographically (like if you are on vacation) or the one that you are a member of a parish in. Thank you!

I couldn’t find it on there. I was able to translate it into English but still didn’t see anything about it.

Why can you not research this yourself?

If you are there, or going there, you should ask the parish priest now or when you get there.

As a traveler you are not bound by whatever they are doing there. If you are concerned, talk to your own pastor.

You’ve already asked this and received your answer before. Why ask again?

Mass on January 1 Liturgy and Sacraments
I’ll be going anyway. I spent so many years having to get up and go to Mass on January 1, in some cases after being out partying till 4 in the morning the night before, that I’d miss it if I wasn’t. Plus, I like to go to church on Mary’s special days.

My apologies. The law gives favor to the traveler to observe the Holy Day Obligations of where you reside unless you are taking up temporary domicile in another location. Likewise, if your home diocese has a day of obligation and the place you’re visiting doesn’t, you’re also under the benefit of being “excused”. In other words, what I thought everyone was trying to say in the other threads were that as an American in Mexico (this year), you have no obligation - regardless of whether the people in that location have one or not.
