Holy Father names new Metropolitan for Omaha

Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has named Bishop George Lucas of Springfield in Illinois to head the (Metropolitan) Archdiocese of Omaha.

Bishop Lucas is a former priest of St. Louis, and a former rector of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary and has been the shepherd of Springfield for nine and a half years.

Welcome, Bishop Lucas – may God richly bless your ministry!

He was on the news last night. Says he’s been tempted to end Mass with that line, but hasn’t ever given in.

I am also looking forward to seeing what he has to do in our Archdiocese!
