Holy Father restores the Pauline Chapel to pre-V2 or traditional arrangement. Glorious!

Another positive move in the Church that needs to be internetted to everyone.

Tradition has a Pope on it’s side 👍

Week after week, sometimes daily, we hear of the good this Pope is doing for the Church.

Deo Gratias !

The restoration of the Pauline Chapel is beautiful. However, this restoration was not the brainchild of Pope Benedict XVI. It was begun in 2002 during the papacy of John Paul II. Did Benedict XVI have a say in the restorations after his election to the papacy? I have no doubt that he did but to claim that the restoration puts him on the side of Traditionalists is really over the top. The chapel itself is only for the use of the Pope and the Papal Household. It isn’t open to the public although there are those of the faithful allowed to see it if they are invited to a private Mass said by the Pope there or by one of his staff or are part of a special tour of the Apostolic Palace.

Who said he is on the side of traditionalists ? Or that the restoration does so.

I didn’t see anyone say that. Did you see a post that was removed after you posted your comment, or are you twisting someone’s word to mean what you wish they did so you could disagree ? 😉

Yor own words. I didn’t twist anything. And it was your post immediately before mine. My post was meant not to be argumentative but to provide a bit more information. Simple as that!🤷

Again, I ask, where did anyone say this puts him on the side of tradtionalists ?

Reread my post. Do you know the difference between the words “Tradition” and “traditionalist” ?

Obviously not.

I think it is also very interesting that in the restoration, the main altar was not put in the same location as it had been originally. The marble altar was put back in. But B XVI had it placed far enough from the wall, so that he could have access to have Mass both facing the people and facing the cross. He also placed it this way to facilitate access to the tabernacle. (These are taken from the article I read about the restoration and are not mine.)
There are also several instances where a choice was made as to how far back to go in restoration. It seems that in some areas at least there were several layers of artwork to consider–which layer to choose in these cases posed problems in the restoration.

Last Sunday I attended a First Communion. The church was a typical modern church- a sort of octagonal shape, overhead projector for hymns, strange rearranged Stations of the Cross (not the traditional ones) - in a word, HIDEOUS!

When I compare that with the Pauline Chapel… there is no comparison. One looked secularised, humanistic and man centred, the other is beautiful, ethereal, heavenly and God centred. We need a reform of the reform in Church buildings.
