If you haven’t done this before, please try it.
During the week sometime, stop by some Catholic Church that has a tabernacle. Spend an hour by just being with Jesus. Perhaps begin by just kneeling in an attitude of prayer without having planned anything else. If your knees get tired before the hour is up, then go ahead and sit and continue an attitude of prayer. To me, a “holy hour” can be as simple as that. Just spending an hour with Jesus Holy Presence in the tabernacle. Keeping an attitude of prayer and knowing that you are in His presence.
Lately, I try to find some time (it often has been less than an hour) to sit in my Church’s chapel. My church has a chapel that is always open and it has a tabernacle with the Holy Presence. A few nights each week, Jesus is “exposed” and there are people who have signed up (half-hours or full- hours) to watch. Such that there is not a time when Jesus is without somebody.
Sometimes, I have prayed five decades of the Rosary (especially if I hadn’t done it yet for the day). Sometimes, I bring a book to read. If it is a Friday afternoon when you visit Jesus, it may be helpful to remember his dying on the cross.

In the event that you cannot spend time in Jesus’ Holy Presence in the tabernacle, you can also do a “Holy Hour” at home. Prepare a little place in your home to be an “oratory” (a place for prayer). Have a holy water font, perhaps a statue of Mary and a crucifix. And when Palm Sunday comes, bring home a palm to put there as well. This is perhaps an important part: have a Holy Bible. Jesus is also present in the Bible. This is why the book of the gospels is held high before the gospel reading. And why it is brought in and out in the procession during Mass. You can spend time in Jesus’ Holy Presence in a similar manner the same as Eucharistic Adoration. Eucharistic Adoration is important, but if it is inconvenient or unavailable for some reason there is an alternative – to spend time in His Holy Presence in the books of the Gospels in the Bible.
Of course reading the Bible is also a good idea. I heard that a Baptist once said this about the Bible – our duty to the Bible is twofold. To believe it. And to obey it.
