Holy icons on cover of books or

According to Canon 73 Trullan, we are not allow to paint Holy Cross on the floor, But why icons are allow to be paint on books, if I keep my books in place where the icons will be damaged or if I put my books in place where I can’t see the icon, or with other literature books, I don’t have the veneration for Icon if I do this? I can’t keep all my books with icon cover on the places where I can see, I have have an icon paper in (a calendar for example) in a place where I can’t see for venerate, I dont respect the Icons?.. What do you think?

Are you a cleric, a consecrated religious, or a canon lawyer?

If you’re not, and you’re just a layman, you do not have any legitimate reason to be trying to interpret the ancient canons.

The canons existed for certain people, in certain times, and at certain places. They are NOT universal, timeless discipline. Laymen inevitably get themselves into trouble when they start reading the ancient Canons and trying to interpret them privately.

The Church is the arbiter and interpreter of the Canons - not random individual lay people.

My suggestion? Stop reading the ancient canons. Pick up the current Code of Canon Law and read that instead.

There isn’t one. Which means any older canons have been abrogated.

Again, you need to keep in mind those ancient canons existed for a specific reason, for a certain group of people, at a certain place and in a certain time. They were never intended to be ecumenical, universal, eternal laws.

The quinisext council aka the council of Trullo happened at the end of the 7th century. Many of the canons enacted then were either supplemented or abrogated.

Finally, the Trullan Council is only accepted in the East.
