Holy land items

hello dear people!

I’m sorry for this direct question, but i really couldn’t find no one who were able to help me with this…
i live in Israel (I’m a Jewish guy) , and i have the privilege to be surrounded by all the holy sites and places which the most of them are less than one hour from my home.
i have found out that i can get many items like holy water, holy earth, handmades and more for very good prices,
and toughed about going abroad and sell it in catholic countries (Philippines or Brazil for example) so other people around the world who cant allow themselves flying here, will have the opportunity to enjoy this stuff.

my question is:
do catholic people need this kind of service?
would you people buy this stuff if you would know its from the holy land?
is it possible to find this stuff abroad (does it have any chance to succeed)?
any advise or note?

Holy Water cannot be sold. Period.

I’ve never heard of “holy earth” as such.

Holy Water is water blessed by a Catholic priest so that is available in every country where there is a Catholic priest.
There is no such thing as Holy Earth.
Just because we call Israel the Holy Land does not mean everything in it is Holy!

do you people have any sentimental feelings to those items?

i was told many times by my friends, that people they know from abroad asked them to bring with them this kind of stuff when visiting.

i tried to ask the same questions here in Israel, but it seems like the Christians who live here can’t give me an answer for that, because they don’t feel the same as people who can just dream about coming here and “sense” this special place.

…and pleas forgive me for my mistakes, as i said I’m a Jewish guy and i don’t really know the proper words and meanings for some of the things. every time you learn something new.

Forgive me for asking this but how would anyone know if they were just getting water from your kitchen tap or earth from your garden?

Don’t sweat it. I imagine there are people who don’t know much about Judaism other than Saturday Sabbath, no pork, and a “beanie” (kippah).

I know of many religious supply shops etc who sell crosses, crucifixes, Nativity scenes, etc, made from olive wood from the Holy Land. It doesn’t necessarily make them more “holy” – it’s the symbolism and a priest’s blessing that makes them holy – but to many people, it does give the item extra meaning. Like Jordan River water, or a stone from the Mount of Olives, etc. It’s like a spiritual souvenir – for some people, it gives them a tactile connection to the places where Jesus, the Apostles, and the Prophets walked.

I think you’re right regarding sentiment among Christians who live outside the Holy Land. I mean, when you are actually living there, why would you want to buy a piece (other than to live on ) when you can just bend over and touch it as you please? But if you live half a world away, it might mean something to touch a “piece” of the Holy Land.

If you can authenticate items (like a stone from the Via Crucis, say) to someone’s satisfaction, so they know they’re not just buying a piece of gravel from a driveway in Tel Aviv, I’d say you might have a business on your hands…if the Israeli government has no problem with you exporting their actual territory!

Just know that you can’t sell blessed items…they would no longer be blessed (simony).
