Our Pastor, a former abbot, refuses to display the Holy Oils in our Church. I’ve always thought they should, indeed, be displayed. The Pastor says he wont ‘put them up’ without documentation that they should be in a place the Parish may view them, does anyone know -where- I may find these documents, if they do exist?
The Diocese wont help, because they say “EVERY priest knows they have to be on display, we don’t have time for this!”

Actually, Traditionally in the Roman Rite, the Holy Oils are kept away from display so as not to be profaned[by satanists and et cetera]. Your priest isn’t doing anything bad not putting th Holy Oils on display.

I don’t think there is any such document to deman a display of the oils. I’m not against it being displayed but I don’t think it’s mandatory.

I would rather hope that you would be makig sure that the Tabernacle is back upon the altar where it belongs. Plenty of documentation for that.

Ah, I hadn’t known, thanks to you both. What’s this about the Tabernacle on the altar? You mean, actually sitting on the altar, or behind, or…?

We have a liturgical meeting coming up soon, and we’re trying to get some things fixed. The priests at our parish are real ‘rebels’, even documents for somethings won’t help.
