I have seen this book recommended lots of times on here and I ordered it today. I am looking forward to getting it and reading it with my wife.

I am interested to hear experiences/testimonies/reviews on the book from people here that have read it. All the reviews online sounded great, but I would prefer reviews from someone I can talk to, like yall…

One of the main questions that I have about it (and I hope it can help) is if it will be helpful for changes a person’s opinion of intimacy? For example, if someone has a negative perception of sex and intimacy, does this book say anything to address/fix that?

Holy Sex is a great book. My wife and I refer to it often, when our copy isn’t loaned out to friends. The Popcaks do a great job of taking the core teachings regarding the human person, marriage, and sex contained in the Theology of the Body and wedding those teachings with modern psychological insight and wisdom in the realms of marriage and sex.

As far as changing a person’s negative perception of sex and intimacy, I’d say it certainly provides a good number of tools for that. But they do say that in some cases one ought to seek out psychological counseling if one is having problems with sex and intimacy.

But the book is certainly fantastic. I always recommend it to my soon-to-be-wed and newly-wed friends. For those who have never studied the Theology of the Body or Love and Responsibility, Holy Sex can be life-changing. And even if you have studied TOB and L&R, as I have, Holy Sex still contains gems of insight and tons of good solid practical advise that is both psychologically sound and theologically orthodox. 👍

Dietrich Von Hildebrand apparently writes in this area and is well regarded.

I haven’t read his books on marriage and sexuality, but have one of his other books and would recommend him.

I have not read the book but I will make sure to pray for you so that you are able to reconcile your negative perceptions of sex and intimacy.

God bless.

It definitely addresses negative perceptions of sex and intimacy.

Personally, the book helped to deepen my appreciation for marital intimacy, and helped me to be more confident and trusting with my husband.

It’s an excellent book. I think it does address the problems you stated.

It is a book that addresses minor negative attitudes toward sex. When I read the book, however, I found my own view of sex to be more negative than anything the book gave an example over. What I did find valuable is that gave me some insight into my behaviors as I healed sexually. Honestly I don’t think I would have even realized just how much I resented men and how much this effected my relationship with my husband and our sex life. It actually helped me to become a better person and a more loving wife in more ways than just sexual.
