What do you think? Are you not concerned about your nation?

What do you propose is the cause of this and what is the cure?

Thanks
Let’s see…didn’t Christ say something about taking the log out of one’s own eye before worrying about the splinter in another. We have too much apostacy in this country to condemn another.

As far as your questions above. I live in the US. & yes, I’m concerned about my nation. I propose that the cause of the problems here was caused by those who hijacked the council & the cure is happening right now…in Rome. Will we be healed quickly & easily? I doubt it. There are those plotting against the renewal that we are seeing, right now. They just don’t realize that their brand of Catholicism is over.

Why? Why not inject this idiocy into some media program instead of the Mass? I can’t believe anyone would do this. Why? For what purpose? Why not just not be Catholic? It just boggles my mind.

And it makes me cry. We are throwing away the Mass–the world’s greatest treasure–by mocking it like this.
why ? Apostacy.

I’m not knocking the NO itself, but what it has enabled. This doesn’t suprise me. There is no zero tolerance policy on what clergy can do with the NO. Even good priests who mean well take liberty to customize their own version if the Mass.

This is nuts. The whole idea is to come up with a Mass version which the youth can call their own. That is absurd. Teen Mass ? Yea right, treat the symptom instead of the cause.

Why does a teen lose interest in the Mass ? It’s simple. Poor catechesis. There are exceptions of course. Some teens wind up running with the wrong crowd and so forth, but the problem is that what builds faith is lacking. They have to get it from the pulpit, and from home. And they need to get it from school as well.

How can a Bishop allow these sort of Masses, and still say with a straight face that the sense of community at the parish level ? And what about the family ? Worshiping with friends instead of family is a good thing ?

When taken to these extremes, the hardline trad argument is true.
We have two different Liturgies based on two different theologies. And that is exactly what has enabled the division. Double standards.

And despite Christ’s Will of unity in His Name, this continues.

Why ?

Despite our recent disagreement, I agree with what you say here. We were typing at the same time.

Apostacy ? You got it ! It’s good to see someone have the courage to say it. Thank you !

Catholic Bishops plan a politically correct travesty of the Mass for ‘Youth Sunday’
Posted By: Damian Thompson at Oct 15, 2008 at 14:43:22

The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales are planning a “Youth Sunday” next month which is so politically correct, patronising and biased to the Left that it is beyond satire. It is also beyond Catholicism, playing barbarous tricks with the liturgy that break the Church’s rules governing the celebration of Mass.

Among the highlights:

• A “litany of penance” that asks God’s forgiveness “For over-filling our kettles” and “For wasting paper”

• A prayer “that the tyranny of profit be quelled”

• The distribution at Mass of Fairtrade chocolates wrapped in paper carrying an exhortation to switch to energy-saving lightbulbs

• Persuading the priest to wear a chasuble stitched together from recycled material

See what I mean about being beyond satire? “Youth Sunday”, on 23 November, is devised by environmental ideologues and climate-change activists well to the Left of the political spectrum - but funded, needless to say, by ordinary churchgoers. Most Catholics in their teens and twenties are sick to the back teeth of this sort of drivel, but I’d be surprised if many of the Church employees running this stunt were actually young.

But the real scandal is what Youth Sunday plans to do to the celebration of Mass, which is to turn it into a propaganda exercise punctuated by comedy turns. It suggests following the Gospel reading, about the Last Judgment, with a sketch about sheep and goats. Let me quote from the author of the document on the Bishops’ website. (Hat tip to James Preece, who has some powerful things to say about this travesty here.)

I couldn’t possibly reproduce the whole sketch here, so I’ve simply taken the parts with my favourite puns - it is puntastic and you know how I like my puns.

News Reporter: This is the Good News. The headlines at six o’clock. Bong! Feeling sheepish? It’s eternal life for the nation’s favourite animal. Bong! Get your goat up! Gruff news for selfish beasts. Bong! It’s the end of the world as we know it. Which side will you end up on?

Larry: Well, Sue, Jesus certainly wasn’t pulling the wool over our eyes. He didn’t mince his words; he told us quite clearly that we had to do good things for one another. They flocked to see him … The crowd were pretty divided really. I have to say that some of the goats looked a little sheepish, funnily enough.

Sue: I bet the goats didn’t like that.

Larry: No, Sue, they were baaa-rking mad. Especially when he told them they’d be for the chop

This is during the Mass for the Solemnity of Christ the King. And its performance is not just permitted by the Bishops of England and Wales: it is suggested by them. These are the same bishops who would not dream of suggesting a Mass using the ancient Latin liturgy of the Catholic Church - indeed, who do everything in their power to block its celebration.

One final touch. At the offertory, bread and wine are brought to the altar to be consecrated by the priest. But Youth Sunday doesn’t want to stop there. The organisers have some further suggestions for “gifts” to be presented at the altar. You can probably guess what they might be, but let me confirm your suspicions: “Energy saving lightbulbs, recycling containers, fairly traded goods…”

How about an extra gift of sick bags for the congregation? But I’m confident that any orthodox Catholics would have left the church by this stage.

This is why Pope Benedict XVI is asking England to return to its glory and asking America to not follow England into sin.

Doesn’t England have Sharia law now-thin edge of the wedge. In fifty years British Christians will be paying dhimmitude. And Maurin perhaps you did not truly bully lisa but your TONE seems a little patronizing and just a teensy bit superior.

Lisa, if we follow your metaphor to its logical conclusion, your initial post is like euthenizing the body, rather than to excise the diseased organ.

You painted the entire British population in an unfair and unflattering light. Even the Lord told Abraham that he would spare the city if 10 righteous men were found. please reconsider your statements.
Tbe BBC does a fine job of slandering the English to the rest of the world. From over here, based upon BBC propaganda, the UK is a festering nanny-state which is attacking faith left and right, promoting a pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality, anti-nobility, and anti-procreation stance.

As for environmentalism and profit:
The Church has always taught, and continues to teach, that seeking profit for the sole sake of wealth is sin. Seekin profit for making a living is not.

Likewise, Willfull waste of resources has always been considered a sin.

Yes, I too read about this recently. Even the Archbishop of Canturbury suggests that sharia law be adopted in England. See the story here.

And here is the story about Sharia Courts being recognized in England.

As for your last sentence, I also agree with you.

So now we’re saying that horrible punishments for crimes such as theft, adultery or blasphemy…amputation of limbs, death by stoning or use of the lash. etc. are inevitable? Oh well, if Rowan Williams said it…it must be true. After all, Cardinal Kasper permitted him to do the homily at the Mass in Lourdes…he must be a wonderful guy!!! 😉 .

The problem with this prediction is that many Catholics are too apathetic to even start some schismatic church. They just show up on Sunday (if that) and go about their lives as they feel like it. It’s more of a spiritual sloth than anything else. The zealous activists who are into formal, organized rebellion are practically insignificant these days (compared to the 60s and 70s).

However, if there were a schism, one must see God’s will in it. During a similar time of moral ineptitude, St. Catherine of Siena saw a pending schism as God pruning away the dead branches so the young shoots could flourish.
