Seems like a summary is the holy spirit is in everything throughout the universe but has a special presence in (“dwells in") those who “possess a sanctifying grace" (meaning what?) Does that mean a Trinitarian baptised Christian who has done Catholic confirmation? What about protestants? Can they have it dwell in them?

The Holy Spirit is received at baptism and those that are properly disposed maintain a habitual state of grace, which is the will to do good and avoid evil, reinforced by the grace (help) of the Holy Spirit. Of course confession is necessary to restore a lost state of sanctifying grace.

We believe that those outside the Catholic Church can be saved, which means that God the Holy Spirit must indwell them, a state normatively and formally entered into at Baptism. Their knowledge may be imperfect, they may lack the “fullness of truth”, but they are still in God’s fold while imperfectly united to it.

So basically the holy spirit enters a person at baptism and indwells them as long as they have the will to follow God (Do good and avoid evil). Is that all? Or is confirmation or confession or something else also necessary? (Or is it not very clearly outlined and we don’t really know?)

So the holy spirit is only dwelling in you if you will to do good / follow God and think about God consistently (ex daily or once a week), but not really if you’re rarely thinking about God no matter how many sacraments and other things you’ve done in the past?

If baptism is fruitfully (with proper disposition) received, then there is indwelling of the Holy Trinity. That state of grace is only lost through mortal sin, but is only restored before death, through fruitful (with proper disposition) reception of the sacrament of penance.

Just Christians who are in a state of grace with God (usually through baptism and then not having mortal sins) have the holy spirit dwell in them?

Baptism of water, blood, or desire is the initial reception of the state of sanctifying grace. God also gives actual graces before conversion.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a generous downpayment given to us by God himself as a deposit and at the same time, a guarantee of our future inheritance
