Holy Spirit Feminine?

My son told me that during his confirmation class last week, the teacher told the class that the Holy Spirit should be called “she”, because the noun used in the original text was feminine.

Is there anything to this claim? I realize that God is neither male nor female, but this sort of thing kind of sends up a red flag to me – I have heard of revisionist versions of scripture with “gender neutral” language, etc. I though I should ask an expert before discussing it with the teacher.

Hi,

Scripture always refers to the Holy Spirit in the masculine. Keep in mind that it was by the Holy Spirit that Mary concieved. Some feminists would very much like to see the Holy Spirit as feminine in this context.
