I went to a mass this afternoon entitled The Lords Supper, and it was a full mass except that there was no washing of the feet. It took place in a hospital chapel and was the only mass celebrated there this Holy Thursday. My friend thinks this does not fulfill the Holy Obligation. What do you think?

( By the way my parents are having a family friend over tonight and would like to help celebrate her birthday.)

Holy Thursday and Good Friday are NOT Holy Days of Obligation. You are not required to attend either.

  1. Holy Thursday is not a day of obligation.
  2. Washing feet is not mandatory for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper.

Washing of the feet is an optional rite.

None of the Triduum is under obligation.

Thanks everybody… I enjoyed a lovely evening with my friend, ate lots and thought about how the Lord ate around a table just like us. 🙂 Can’t wait for tomorrow!!! Yay Easter is here at last praise Jesus. 🙂
