Holy Water - Can tap water be added?

Thank you; Sorry…I must have missed that other post some how; I would have deleted my post only it was to late. Why are churches still doing that if the Vatican has told them not to? Sorry I don’t understand.

That kind of disobedience is unfortunately fairly common, and since the administrators that are making these decisions are the same ones responsible for letting the people know what the Vatican has clarified, most people in the pew don’t know there is anything amiss. If your parish did this, I’d recommend researching “liturgical abuse” as that is probably not the only thing being done that is not in line with the rules.

Some priests think they know better about these things than Vatican bureaucrats like the pope. The bishop of Kansas City has been very strong on this particular issue.

Anyone wishing to discuss whether certain blessings are more powerful than others, if Holy Water fonts should be emptied for Lent, or whether it is acceptable to circumvent the authority of a parish administrator who is circumventing her own authority figures should start a thread in the appropriate forum (Spirituality, Liturgy and Sacraments, and Moral Theology, respectively).
