Holy Water Font

Hello!

I just got some holy water from my parish after buying a holy water bottle from a Catholic bookstore but I forgot that I would need a holy water font!

What are some ideas that I could use for a holy water font with things I have here at home or if you could guide me to any holy water fonts that are fairly inexpensive and nice that can be ordered online?

Also, as I put with every query here, if you have an extra holy water font that you are not using or would want to send to a good home, please let me know.

You don’t need a font. Bottles or even milk jugs are just fine, as long as you treat and store it reverently.

However, if you would like to have the holy water readily available in a public part of your home, yes, a font might be desirable.

We have always put it in near the front doorway to use while coming in and going out. If you cut a small sponge and fit it into the font it help to keep it from evaporating so quickly. We have one at the doorway of each bedroom as well.

You could keep the bottle by the door etc. and simply open the top and bless yourself, but it’s not the same as dipping into a font, I know.
I found a font in a local resale shop for $1…
Good idea to put a sponge in it…I’m off to cut a sponge right now!

Any small shallow bowl or deep saucer will serve as a font. Just make sure it is on a solid surface so it doesn’t get knocked over.

Autom (already mentioned) and the Catholic Company (catholiccompany.com) have reasonably priced fonts. But if you have a local Catholic gift/bookstore, I would recommend patronizing them first. The one near us carries a wide selection - from a few dollars and up.
