Does using Holy Water forgive venial sins. I thought I read that somewhere. If so do you have an official church document that states that?

The reason I ask is that to get a plenary indulgence you have to be free of all attachment to sin, even venial sin. So if you have an unforgiven venial sin then the indulgence is partial. So the question is if you use holy water before receiving Communion, then would you get the plenary indulgence.

Thanks and God Bless

Actually, partaking of Holy Eucharist (If, of course, you have no unforgiven mortal sin) forgives all venial sins. Holy water, when used with the proper disposition, does the same, as well as blessing the user.

To be free of attachment to sin means that you do not want to sin, not that all your sins have been forgiven. 😉
