I know that if you’re low on holy water, you can add some regular water and it will keep its sanctified state as long as the new water doesn’t make up a majority of it.

But, is it okay to add salt? I mean, I know they put in salt before blessing the water to help keep it preserved, but when I go to get some holy water from church and bring it home, is it okay for me to still add more salt?

I’m curious about this because I took some holy water home once and after a long time, it had gross green things floating in it. I’m guessing adding more salt would keep it fresh, but does that in anyway tamper with the original blessing?

Yes, you can add up to 49% regular water to your Holy Water and some additional salt if you wish. If you go to the church every Sunday you can always pick up additional fresh Holy Water then.
