Holy Water

What is the proper use of Holy Water? How are we supposed to use it, and for what?
 
If you have children, you can bless them by signing their foreheads with the holy water and blessing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You can also bless yourself with it, making the sign of the cross and asking forgiveness of sins (it remits venial sin). You can sprinkle it over yourself to make a little shelter against evil spirits/demons. St. Teresa of Avila said that it is most powerful against demons and the devil himself, that they cannot stand the presence of holy water.
 
There is a pious tradition within the eastern churches to drink a little holy water every morning after partakeing of some blessed bread that one can get after the Divine Liturgy.
 
So can you all chime in on whether this was appropriate (both official church stance and personal stance are totally welcome)…I have some friends who are non-Catholic and I have been praying for them for quite some time now. So I was listening to Catholic radio and heard a mention of sprinkling Holy Water in a house to bless it. I have such a great desire to see these people come to the truth that I figured I’d give it a shot. So first I blessed myself, then I made the sign of the Cross with it above their garage door, front door, and on both of their cars. Is that ok? Is that a proper use of it?
 
I’d say yep. I love holy water. I keep some in my car. My car wouldn’t start one day so I gave it a hefty splash and voila! I drove away.

There was a time in my life that I consistently dated the wrong men. For a while I seriously considered sprinkling all men I dated to see if they sizzled when sprinkled.

But it is great to keep demons at bay.

I don’t see anything wrong with that. I have in-laws that are fallen away Catholics, one is pretty anti-Catholic now. When they stay with us, I sprinkle the beds with holy water, fill up the fonts (there’s one in each bedroom) and tuck a Green Scapular under the mattress.

I also have a small vial of holy water that I keep in my purse. I bless the kids forheads with holy water before they go to sleep.

You want me to dig up my friends’ yard? What if I got caught? BUT…since we’re on the subject…What miraculous medal? Is it a specific saint?

What exactly is a Scapular? I’ve heard them talked about many times on Catholic radio, but I have no idea what they are, what they’re for, and what the different colors mean.
 
Burying on the run is really easy and can take less than 10 seconds. Most abortion clinics probably have tons buried on their sites with no knowledge of them!
