Holy Water

I’m not sure about drinking it since it is pretty much salt water since there is “traditionally” blessed salt put into the blessed water and makes holy water

I wonder… can drinking holy water do anything for you?

Same thing it does for you when you put it on your forehead. It’s a common practice among many Eastern Christians and some Westerners as well.

For a while there, my kids kept having nightmares. I would bless them with Holy Water before bed. One memorable night, my oldest boy was worried about his younger brother who kept sleepwalking and falling off the top bunk of the bunkbed. The youngest was already asleep but I took the Holy Water and asks the lord to sprinkle His angels like these drops of water and keep him safe.

About an hour later I rushed into the bedroom to the youngest screaming. He was yelling at no one I could see at the side of his bed yellin them to let him down! Interestingly enough, he chose St. Michael the Arch angel for his confirmation saint.

This was very cute to read. I love to hear of children’s interactions with the spiritual world, be it with Our Lord, Our Immaculate Lady, or one of the many Saints and angels. I wonder if St. Michael had been one of those not “letting him down”…

I wonder that too!

One of the things I love about the Catholic Church is all the sacramentals. We’re are truly concrete people, children even more so. I love being able to “see” God working.

Not just “blessed” salt: it’s exorcised!

The rite takes about five minutes after the priest gets everything together (stole, candles, crucifix, water and salt) and it’s pretty cool.
