I noticed in the new rite blessing over water there is a prayer that we will be blessed by the sprinkling or use of the water. In the old rite the water is explicitly blessed and exorcised and the prayer asks that everything sprinkled with the water drives out all uncleanness. There is no comparable prayer in the new rite blessing I read – it only asks that we are blessed when it is sprinkled or used. Is the holy water in the new rite intended to bless everything it is sprinkled on or only to bless the persons using it? I didn’t see anything about cleansing objects it is sprinkled on.

Guess what?

All the other sacraments were also changed and resemble little of what they were in the traditional Latin. In fact I really wish they would revert to at least saying the rubrics for the traditional forms of each in English instead of what they have gone to. Baptism was always like a mini exorcism now its a teaching event with baptism included. kind of sad if you ask me. BTW there is no Old rite the TLM is still and always will be a current rite.
