Smiley faces do not negate a disrespectful comment. The OP was obviously addressing fellow Catholics. Non-believers don’t observe Holy Week anyway. I believe the question was about the appropriateness of enjoying recreational activities during Holy Week, not the spiritual condition of those who do. I agree with another poster that as long as the activity in question doesn’t lead you to sin and doesn’t take time away from your Lenten penances and observances, there isn’t anything wrong with it.Did you not notice the smiley face at the end of my comment??? It was an attempt at humor – obviously misplaced.
The OP did not specify if he was talking about himself or in general. So it is left for the rest of us, not being mindreaders, to guess.
And yes, in my opinion and my contribution to the discussion if we are to make sweeping generalizations then we do have to be careful about general judgments.
