I want to know what others are doing to enter into the true spirit of Holy week,

Also can one best spend Holy Thursday, Good Friday and holy saturday, before we celebrate the Glorious Resurrection of our Saviour?

peace.

i’m not connecting to the net the day after tomorrow until after Easter Sunday (i might not even touch my computer at all). which means i won’t be visiting CA Forums for nearly a week. i don’t know if i’m going to survive it.

Dear friend

In Holy Week we should embrace that which we would rather not embrace. I think of our Sweet Lord Jesus embracing His Cross out of Love.

We should face that which we would rather not face. This is very personal to each person.

It may be reflecting on ourselves and all of our past mistakes and sins and then fulfilling that call to repentance and making a good and holy confession. It may be entering into in a deep and heart-rending way, our Lord’s Passion and death, which is very difficult to do. No matter how deep we think we may have entered into His Passion and death, we still can enter deeper, with our Lord Jesus there is always more.

It may be being kind to someone you find it very hard being kind to. It may be sharing yourself when you would rather be alone. It may be giving of your time when you feel you already have so little time. It may be visiting someone we would rather not see. It may be visiting the grave of a loved one which is difficult to do. It may be venerating His Cross in your home as well as at Church and spending time before His Cross worshipping and loving Him there.

In Holy Week we are called to sacrifice ourselves and repent.

We are called to be watchful at the Tomb of our Lord, what agony for this world for even one day for there to be no Blessed Sacrament in the Tabernacle. One day is too long without Him.

We are called to serve each other as we recall our Lord washing the feet of His apostles and so we must also serve. Do the extra kind thing, be more thoughtful of others in speech and deed, humble ourselves before others deeming others to be more worthy and holier than ourselves. Love God and love humanity in this Holy Week.

And at the end of this Holy Week on Easter Sunday to rejoice that our Lord is Risen and in every Tabernacle of the World.

Then carry all that we have grown in during this Holy Season into the rest of our lives, if what we do during Lent and Holy Week remains there , it has not been life-changing and we must constantly seek conversion within faith and pray for it daily.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I will be going to Holy Thursday Mass, and Good Friday Liturgy- one bishop is celebrating Holy Thursday Mass at the Co-Cathedral in my town, and the other bishop is presiding at the Good Friday liturgy at the Co-Cathedral. I will be going to the Easter Vigil Mass at another parish. I am not registered at a parish, and the tickets to the Seder Meals in town are sold by now, so I don’t think I’ll be going to one this year.

I will be attending out parish mission this week. It is the third mission I attended, but the first one that is happening during Holy Week.

God Bless
Kathleen

I love the triduum and attend all of it, I will attend the Chrism Mass the Last Supper Mass, evening adoration, Good Friday service. I will try to attend Holy Saturday in the past I have but my grandchildren will be over.

I think the days before Easter have so much meaning and I try to take in it all.

Holy Thursday and Good Friday Liturgy for me, then Sunday morning Mass!

Holy Thursday Mass and vigil of prayer; either choral Stations at the cathedral on Good Friday morning, or the ecumenical service we have every year at one of the churches in my suburban area (these are really good! Each church congregation processes on foot through the streets to the church whose turn it is to host the service, carrying a wooden cross, and each church contributes something special to the service); then of course the Good Friday liturgy in the afternoon; the Easter vigil at my parish church, and on Easter Sunday I go to the choral Mass at the cathedral - all the stops out! It’s usually Mozart’s Coronation Mass with cathedral choir and orchestra, and it is just gloriously triumphant!!! But I couldn’t NOT go to the Easter vigil, and if I had to choose, it would be the Easter vigil, because it is the most important event in the whole liturgical calendar.

I try to attend Tennebrae, The Tridium on Thursday, The Friday Liturgy, and will add this year to see The Passion of the Christ again in DVD. I also try to read at least the last chapters of the book, “The Passion of Jesus And Its Hidden Meaning” by Fr. James Groenings. Great book. I especially enjoy the chapters on the Seven Words of Christ. This is a very old book copywritten in 1900 with the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur back in 1908.

Ohh, and I did NOT buy this book myself back in 1900:D

I have decided to abstain from meat all this week (a huge sacrifice for me!) and to add the Divine Mercy Chaplet to my daily prayers next to my Rosary. I will of course be attending Mass on Holy Thursday and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the evening, and go to Good Friday service as well.

I will attend all of the masses and watch “The Passion” Friday evening.

On Good Friday we light a candle with our children around noon, when it became dark. We remember Jesus hanging on the cross each time we see the candle. At 3:00 we blow the candle out, signifying Christ’s death, and say a prayer.
