Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence. So one full meal (with two other smaller that din’t together equal a full meal), and no meat. But that’s it.

What about Holy Thursday? Ash Wednesday is a day of abstinence, isn’t it (okay, ya. I went way from the o.p. I’m still wondering though)?

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of both fasting (eating less) and abstinence (avoiding meat). The other Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. There are no limitations on any other days.

Holy Thursday is the anniversary of the priesthood and the Holy Eucharist. I would say, exert the effort to Eat Meat!

I don’t mean to derail this thread, but does the fasting apply to those on medications? I am on two different prescriptions, and I have to take both of them with food three times a day. Is it okay if I have full meals?

We’re not supposed to dispense medical advice on this forum, but since you asked… to avoid the danger of getting sick, please keep your normal food routine.

Eating normally when you’re on special medications makes good sense. Certain medications are tempered by the food through their absorption. Usually a tall glass of water is required as well. But you may know your own limits even better, for example; it may be a good gesture to avoid eating between meals, which may be part of your normal routine.

Getting terribly sick doesn’t make sense… and as always if in doubt - speak to your pastor for clarification.

Best wishes for a holy Triduum.😉
