Hello,

It’s hard to pose my question so please have patience.

I’ve been devoting myself to Catholic study with the hope of discovering and enjoying a greater closeness to God. It is not easy.

I have under taken the study of C S Lewis and Chesterton etc. and I felt a little deflated tonight when it occurred to me that there are many people who know the Bible and our faith far greater than I may ever know it but some are the very same people that can slice me in half with a harsh word or carless glance.

Does holiness truly take us on a road to spiritual perfection or should we not expect too much from our poor fallen nature.

Is this “as good as it gets?”

Please respond with some depth to help me understand and maybe even encourage me,

God bless,
Terry

I guess only God knows how farre we will have to go but it is lettiing go to the extent of allowing God to do what ever He wishes. Ask God for the gift of faith in God, hope in Him and love of others.

God bless

Is this as good as it gets? No, no, no!!!

I think it is important to keep in mind that the project you are involved in is GOD sized, not man sized. We are on a journey INTO the Holy Trinity-- into community. It’s massive. Infinite.

We are all unique too, our journey and perspective is unique and we visit and interpret. Don’t you find that with every single step on the journey your perspective changes? That every step you take is a part of the journey? I would implore you to live in this moment, right now and understand everything it contains, all the hope it holds.

You may never own all the information, but the effect what you do learn has on you is what you need to concern you with. As you have seen, some possess much more knowledge and yet understand it not at all.

Be at peace and remeber Micah’s summation of the LAW of GOD:

Micah 6:8

What does the LORD require of you?

…Do good, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
