The shrine’s nice. Like the dual Sacred & Immaculate Hearts, and the votive lamp. And you have two relics too? Awesome.
A suggestion-- (just a suggestion) perhaps two candlesticks on either side would help further define it as a sacred space. But then again, you do already have the votive lamp.

It is certainly a blessing to have them! With some help from my spiritual director, I was able to obtain them from the Passionists in Rome.
Hello all!I have a shrine, it currently has a Face of Christ Crowned With Thorns above the table draped in dark-gold fabric, ontop of which is a white linen cloth. It’s surrounded by four candlesticks, and a Bible under it, and a white-linen covered box with holy water, holy oil, holy earth from Jeusalem, holy water from the Jordan, an old Cross, and an old little Greek Bible in it. I usually have a censer, but ran out of incense (I never use stick incense-- only traditional monastery-quality incense used in churches.) Oh, yeah, and above the Face of Christ is an old metal (pre-Vatican II?) crucifix that was on someone’s casket at a funeral-- got it on E-bay, as the person didn’t want it (don’t know why anyone would not want a crucifix).
My shrine changes from month to month, to reflect the Christian seasons, and I have many other pictures and items which I interchange during the various holidays. All the images I use are of the same Pre-Vatican II German Catholic style. Even my non-Catholic friends think it’s cool (except when, in the Marian holidays there is a predominant Marian theme in the shrine!)

I have a home alter in my room. I keep pictures of Jesus, Mary, and St. Anthony. I also keep an angel on my alter and my box of rosaries that I pray with. You can put anything that means something to you on your alter.
I've let this go for a long time, but I think it might be useful to mention that the original title of this thread contains a typo; it should read, "Home altars." "Alter" means to change. "Altar" is a place of sacrifice/prayer. Just thought everyone would want to know...
Growing up we had a bookcase in our hallway that we called our altar - we had our statues (Jesus (that was mine), Blessed Mother (older sister’s), St. Francis (younger sister’s) as well as some prayer cards, votive candles etc. And that was where we said our prayers every night. Now these things are in my house (except for my sisters’ statues and I’ve added to it - St. Therese, St. Anthony, Infant of Prague, Palms, more prayers etc.FrRJBoyd,
Wow, where’d you get that statue of Mary?
The statue came from a studio in Italy and I bought it from our local gift shop. It is one of the most beautiful statues of the Blessed Mother that I have ever seen in that size (24") and price range but i have searched the internet several times and have not been able to find it anywhere else.
