Here is an updated picture of my Oratory.

Wilhelm,

What are those round things on stands along the front row?

BTW, your oratory is beautiful. 🙂
Holy Relics.

There are bones of St. Norbert, St. Pius V, St. John Neumann and St. Sylvester, a piece of the body of St. John of the Cross , a piece of linen imbued with the blood of Blessed Antonio Rosmini, a piece of the clothes of Blessed Titus Brandsman,Martyr and a piece of the vestments of St. John Berchmans.

Plus I have more Relics that are not on the Altar.

Very cool! Thank you. 🙂

Here is a picture of my altar at home.

It’s temporary as I plan to build a better one–perhaps one with actual stone and wooden “house”.

It contains my St Benedict Crucifix, a picture of the Blessed Mother, 2 white candles, Holy Water, Blessed Salt, St Benedict Medal and St Benedict Rosary. The shelf below it is where I keep my books and a container for extra candles and matches. I also placed an orange lava lamp to add some illumination.

These places of prayer in your homes are so wonderful. Even the smallest ones call to my heart reminding me to pray.

Aren’t they? I know I’m inspired. I’m going try and assemble a “traveling” shrine, having items in a box since I’m in a small apartment and can’t dedicate a space.

I made this tonight. I still have one to make for my wee apartment, but I was in a crafting mood and so I made this to take to work. The candle is one of those battery operated candles. (It’s amusing to see it “flicker”) I plan on adding a rosary. This will be a “traveling altar” since the box is only 4"x3"x2"

Nice icons! Is Saint Nicholas the one in the middle?
Yes, It’s a German St. Nicolaus Icon from the 17th century. It belongs to my sister in law, but she loaned it to me until she and my brother move to their new house.

For God is Gracious:
That is wonderful and very creative. You were very inspired.🙂

Thats awsome!!!

Our family altar is on several book shelves in our family / dinning room. I saved money by buying unpainted statues and painting them myself. I’m no artist and it shows up close, but I think they look nice. The only statues I didn’t paint are the two small St. Francis and St. Anthony ones.

the ones infront of our lady and st joseph are from a garage sale with new glass.
the large one hanging came from a parish rummage sale
the two under the crucifix came from goodwill with new glass
