This is a great post on home altars/shrines! Here is my current home altar.

Update:

I’ve redone my home shrine, I’ve included:

-My great-grandmother’s Infant of Prague (along with the twenty robes that she handmade for Him
-Statues of St.Anthony, St.Peter, the Pieta and the Blessed Virgin
-Icons of Christ Pantocrator and the Old Testament Trinity
-Vigil candles of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Saint Anthony, Saint Lazarus, Saint Michael, and plain white representing the Holy Ghost
-Holy Water and Blessed Salt
-Rosary
-Sacred Scripture
-And two Relics- St. Gemma Galgani (first class) and St. Leopold Mandic (second class- from his clothes)

Mine is really a long build up of religious articles that I have collected over the years. It’s just a statue of the Infant of Prague, a transparent statue of Our Lady of Grace, and a statue of St. Jude, all on top of a former vanity booth, with dried flowers, large pictures, and cloths.

Some of the other home altars on this thread are just so beautiful! 🙂

Just spent along time going through this thread, all of you should be commended as there are some very beautiful home altars that you have shared with us.
 
This is my altar. I have it set up in my bedroom in a little nook between my armoire and bookshelf. On the bookshelf (it doesn’t show) I have incense, holy water, holy oil, and a little CD player to play gregorian chant. The little stool in front of the desk my husband found along side the road. Wish I had a bigger table as I just bought a santo nino statue and want to add it to this.

That looks very nice… What are all the notes? … If you dont mind me asking:D
 
oh no problem!!! They’re various sayings and/or prayers. I believe the ones at the top are Padre Pio sayings and the one in the middle to the bottom is the St. Gertrude prayer for souls in purgatory.

Sometimes when I’m trying to pray my mind goes a hundred miles a minute and when it does I’ll just concentrate on one of those little scraps of paper and say it over and over.
 
Thats a really good idea! It beats russelling through various prayer books:thumbsup:
 
My home altar is also my work desk, and while not ideal, it works wonderfully… Sorry for the bad quality, I took the photos with my cellphone.

This is the wall adjacent to my desk that serves as my little prayer corner. Yes, both pictures under the large Crucifix are Our Lady, the one on the left being a Christmas gift.
