Hello and hope you are having a great day? I would like to know if by watching the Holy Mass on tv do we recieve any graces. Also if we are home bound do we have to keep the rule of confession? To recieve the sacrament once a year? Christ’s love and peace be with you.:confused:

Good evening,
The Catechisms explains.
CCC 1389 (Paragraph number) The Church obliges the faithful to take part in the Liturgy on Sunadays and feast days and, prepared by the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once a year, prefered during Lent.

So the Church does still ask the Reconciliation once a year.

CCC 2180. On Sundays and other holy days of bbligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass.
Key word here. Participate, do you say the prayers?? then you are participating.I am not a Priest so I can only quote documents as I am not ordained or have the ‘formal’ training.
If you are watching the Mass while you read the paper I would say “NO” but,
If you watch the Mass paying attentions and do so in a reverent manner I would say “Yes” again I am not a Priest. If I may make this assumption if you are unable to attend Mass because of circumstances beyond your control but still watch Mass, I would say God knows your heart is with him.

Hope that helps,
God bless, I hope you get better.

Dear Jerry, Thank you so much for the reply. My husband brings me home the Blessed Sacrament and I wait for the Mass on TV to receive Christ together with the people receiving on TV. This way I get more of a community feeling by participating with my brothers and sisters. As for confession , I fear the Priest would be/feel imposed on for so little to tell. He is the only Priest in a very large parish. May our Lord bless and protect you in all that you do, especially with your ministry. CMK

It’s very special (I think) that you wish to receive the Blessed Sacrament while the Priest is distributing it on TV. I would doubt very much that your Priest would feel imposed upon for him to come to your home to hear your confession. Actually it’s part of his duty to do so. I believe that you are receiving many graces just for taking the time to watch the Mass on TV. May God continue to bless you.
